AABSW Membership
The AABSW was developed in response to a need for community, connection, support and recognition. We focus on addressing these needs by providing social networking, peer support, mentorship, supervision, professional development, education, training, community service, organizational support, advocacy and research.
Membership is open to people of African Descent who are:
- Registered Social Workers (RSW) in Alberta
- Social Work trained (Diploma, BSW, MSW, Ph.D.)
- Retired Social Workers
- Members of the NSABSW / ABSW
- Information and Resource Sharing
Annual Membership Fee: $60 CAD
- Collective Advocacy and Action
- Professional Development Opportunities

Volunteer
Whether you’re interested in a career in social services, are a social service professional looking to donate your time and skills to a cause that’s close to your heart or you want to be a nonprofessional social services volunteer, you’ll find plenty of social work volunteer opportunities. As a volunteer for social services, you’ll learn a lot about social work, help your community, and, if seeking a career in the field, develop your resume to boot.

AABSW is a registered non-profit organization completely supported through community donations. You can donate to support our programs and services and have impact in a tangible way. Sponsorship opportunities are available for companies and organizations who wish to contribute to our mission and vision.
